Carrie May Beiber died, Saturday, October 20, 1945, at 10:25 p.m., at her home, 1209 Ninth street, after 65 years of residence in Marion.
She was born July 30, 1865, at Mt. Sterling, Ill., the daughter of John and Sarah Hewett Humphrey, and was married in Marion July 12, 1880, to Jacob L. Beiber. The husband died November 9, 1936, in Marion. Surviving are J. Alva Beiber, Mrs. Lula Straker [sic-other sources spell Straka], Claude Beiber and Bernice Kinkead, all of Marion; Mrs. Mabel Wightman and Weskley Beiber of Cedar Rapids; 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Two sons, Arthur and Roy, preceded her in death.
Mrs. Beiber was a member of the Marion Christian church.
Funeral services were conducted from the Yocom chapel at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, October 23, with the Rev. J.J. Snyder of Greeley, Iowa, in charge. The bearers were: Robert and Willard Beiber, Paul Straker, Melvin and Marion Kinkead and Charles Price.
Burial was made in Oak Shade cemetery.
