Thursday April 22, 1920 The Marion Weekly Sentinel
Arthur Willard Beiber, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jake Beiber, was born June 8, 1897, at Alburnett and died at his home in Marion, April 14, 1920, aged 22 years, 10 months and 6 days. He was stricken with pleuro-pneumonia, just six days before his death, and seemed to feel that his final hour had come, but bore his sufferings patiently and calmly.
His early boyhood was spent in the vicinity of Alburnett where he attended school, but in March, 1911, he came with his parents to Marion and attended school here. Always industrious, he was not content unless at work. He followed farming and the dairy business for several years, but for some time recently had been employed at the T. M. Sinclair plant. His employer always held him in high esteem, His cheery ways added brightness to the home where he will be sadly missed, especially by the mother to whom he was devoted, and he was the only one of the children living at home with the parents. Arthur was among the group of boys just ready to answer their country's call when the World War ended, and received his honorable discharge from the army.
He is survived by his parents, three brothers and three sisters, Alva, of Marion, Mrs. Lulua Straka, of Central City; Mrs. Bernice Kincaid, and Claud of Marion; Mrs. Mabel Hewitt and Wesley of Cedar Rapids.
The funeral was held from the residence Saturday afternoon with the Rev. W.L. Barth of the Second Christian church, Cedar Rapids, officiating. There was a large attendance of friends and the floral offerings were many and beautiful.
