Carl W. Johnson, 78, Mountain View, Calif., a former Marion resident, died Saturday at Santa Clara, Calif.
He was born Feb. 17, 1899, at Paralta, Iowa. On Nov. 8, 1923, at Spokane, Wash., he was married to Geraldine Starbuck. Mr. Johnson, a retired engineer for Shell Oil, served in the navy during World war I, and was a member of the Covenant Presbyterian church of Palo Alto, Calif., and Marion lodge No. 6 A.F. and A.M.
Surviving are his wife, a son, William V. Johnson of Mountain View, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. Frank Lennert of Woodside, Calif.; seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild and a sister, Mrs. Hannah Cone of Marion.
Graveside services: Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Oak Shade cemetery at Marion by the Rev. Jay A. Miller of the First United Presbyterian church. Masonic services will be conducted by Marion lodge No. 6. Friends may call at the Murdoch chapel in Marion from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. All Master Masons are asked to meet at the Masonic temple Friday at 1 p.m.
