Laura Mary Starbuck, one of Marion's oldest women, died Wednesday afternoon at the Shaffer G. Klink home, 1540 Fifth avenue, where she had ben [sic] cared for, for many years, during a long illness.
The daughter of Norris and Ann Blakeslee Cone, she was born in a log cabin southeast of Marion, May 15, 1846. Had she lived another week, Mrs. Starbuck would have been 96 years of age. In 1867 she married J.A. Starbuck, a pioneer Marion merchant. They established a home here and the greater part of her life she lived in this community and her entire life in Iowa. Mrs. Starbuck was the mother of four sons, Norris, of Seattle, Wash., Frank of Peoria, Ill., Nathan of Valiere, Mont., and Bert, who preceded her in death. Mr. Starbuck died February 20, 1812 [sic]. Several grandchildren and great-grandchildren survive. She had seven brothers, all of whom preceded her in death.
In her girlhood Mrs. Starbuck joined the Baptist church, and funeral services will be held there Monday afternoon at two o'clock, with the pastor, the Rev. Benjamin Shaw, in charge of the services. Interment will be made in Oak Shade cemetery.
It is requested that there be no flowers.
