MARION RESIDENT DIES SUNDAY A.M.
Joseph Blazek Lived in Marion 20 Years

Joseph Blazek, age 66 years, died at his home one-fourth mile northwest of the city Sunday morning at 7 o'clock.
Mr. Blazek was born Nov. 11, 1859 near Chelsea. He was married to Kate Skrable, June 2, 1879 at Elberon, Ia. They went to housekeeping on a farm near Dysart where they lived for two years. They moved from there to Elberon where Mr. Blazek was in the hardware and grocery business for 14 years. The next move was to Marion, where they have lived on the same farm for 20 years.
Eight children were born to them: Mayme E. Shugart of St. Paul, Minn.; Joseph M. of West Branch; Emil J., Emily K. McClelland, Julia Shugart, Libbie A. Varnes, and Milo D. all of Marion, and Ella Timms of Council Bluffs. Nine grandchildren and one great grandchild; two brothers, Frank of Elberon and Charles of Chelsea; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Upah, and Mrs. Julia Kupka, both of Chelsea, survive him. His wife also survives him.
Mr. Blazek was a charter member of the Odd Fellows lodge at Elberon, having been a member for 30 years.
He was a good husband, father and neighbor. He was a father to all of his sons-in-law and daughters-in-law, none of whom had a father living, as well as to his own children.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at the family home one-fourth mile northwest of Marion. Rev J.E. Bruner of Hawraden will be in charge of the services. The Odd Fellows will have charge of the service at the grave. Burial will be in Oak Shade.
