Final rites for Harold Charles Platner, 75, were held at the Morgan Funeral home, Lisbon, Dec. 9 with the Rev. John M. Jensen, pastor of First Lutheran church, Cedar Rapids, officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery, Mechanicsville.

Pallbearers were Bruce McCulough, Robert Ross, Harold Heideman, Karl Kettering, Donald Overbaugh and Clarence Miller.

Mr. Platner died at San Jose, Calif. following a heart attack. He had lived in California since September.

The son of Charles and Laura Riddle Platner, he was born in Mt. Vernon May 20, 1893 and was educated in Mt. Vernon high school and Cornell academy. He lived in Linn, Jones, and Cedar counties until moving to California.

He was in the oil business in Mechanicsville before farming northeast of Lisbon. He retired in 1964.

He was married to Maude Hempe at Lisbon, March 25, 1914.

He is survived by a son, Ivan, Martelle; a daughter, Mrs. Glenn (Iris) Plattenberger, Lisbon; a sister, Mrs. Alma Decker, Wisconsin; 2 brothers, Glenn, Anamosa and Leon, Cedar Rapids and 3 grandchildren.

His wife preceded him in death in 1963.
