Francis Eli Farnum, 90, retired farmer, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Lon Rose, at Hudson at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday [5/22/1935] after a long illness. He was born in McHenry County, Illinois, Jan. 19, 1845 and had lived in the vicinity of Hudson for thirty years. Surviving are a son; Fred, of Marshalltown, and five daughters, Mrs. Harrison Dill of Peoria, Mrs. Lon Rose of Hudson, Mrs. George Williams, Mrs.Clarence Blood, and Mrs. Ed Maish, all of Cedar Rapids, thirty-three grandchilden, twenty-eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held in the Beatty chapel Saturday at the 10:30 a.m. conducted by the Rev. J. E. Waery. Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.
