WILLIAM (BILL) M. GREGORY, 63, of 716 Eighteenth street SE, Cedar Rapids, died of an apparent gunshot wound to the head at his home Monday.Police were investigating the possibility of suicide; the Linn medical examiner was unavailable for comment. A gun was found in the same bedroom as the body, officials said.
Born May 5, 1914, in Wayne county, Ky., he was married to Leota Eaton Gregory Feb. 9, 1935, at Newton. He had been employed by Maytag in Newton until 1948 when he moved to the Cedar Rapids area. Mr. Gregory had been employed by Cherry-Burrell as a tool and die maker for 15 years.
Surviving are four sons, Larry M., Tom L., David J. and Jeff A., all of Cedar Rapids; three daughters, Judy C. Harris, Lisbon, and Martha E. Jordan and Lynda M. Reid, both of Cedar Rapids; 12 grandchildren; five sisters, Kay Pillie, Bettendorf; Evalee Haunsperger, Cedar Rapids; Rose Holmes, Myrtle Conn and Trudie Wood, all of Newton.
Services: 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Baxter Memorial chapel in Marion by the Rev. David Smith. Burial: Lisbon cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel after 1 p.m. Wednesday. A memorial has been established.
