Obituary
John Arthur Steyne, 2020 L St. SW, lifelong resident of Cedar Rapids, a veteran of World War II and department head at the Roosevelt hotel, died in Veterans hospital at Iowa City Thursday following a brief illness.
Born May 22, 1910, in Cedar Rapids, he married Mayme Jindrich, Oct. 4, 1930.
Surviving in addition to his wife are 8 daughters, Mrs. Joseph Gaskill, Mrs. John Milke, Mrs. Dale Custer, Kathryn, Lynda K. and Leah Rae Steyne, all of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. R.S. Tarpley of San Diego and Mrs. Benedict Osweiler of North English; 2 sons, John E. Steyne of Brunswick, Me., and Danny M. Steyne of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Mrs. E.E. Youtzy of Cedar Rapids and 17 grandchildren.
Mr. Steyne was affiliated with trinity Methodist church, the Eagles, Hanford post of the American Legion, the VFW and the Lions club.
Services: Turner chapel at a time to be announced later.
Burial: Cedar Memorial.
Friends may call at the chapel after 1 p.m. Friday.
