I'm looking for Hiersteins/Hersteins/Herstines/Hirsteins who immigrated to Lee County Iowa in the 1840s. Especially looking for information re Henry/Heinrich or his son Jacob and wife Elizabeth. Jacob lived in Lee County from 1846 until the Civil War. He returned to Fort Madison after the War and the Iowa Federal Census of 1870 shows him living in the 3rd Ward with his wife, Elizabeth (39)& born in Pennsylvania. In about 1895, Jacob moved to the National Military Home in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, but I have no other information re Elizabeth.

Henrich (37), Catherine Banka (20), Jacob (11), Barbara (9), Magdalena (7), Henrich (5) and Elisabeth (2) immigrated in 1846. They traveled with Jacob and Barbara Hierstein and their son Jacob. They then settled in Fort Madison, Lee Co., IA before moving closer to Keokuk, IA.

Henry married Catherine Eger in 1851 and raised a second family.
