I already answered this question on June 7, 2018.
Please look in my earlier posting.

The Brockway family purchased it on December 1, 1841 at the Burlington Iowa land office by paying cash under the US statute of April 24, 1820: Sale-Cash Entry (3 Stat. 566); They paid $1.25 per acre for 320 acres = $400 and received a patent from US government. The homestead act was not passed until 1862. This land was part of Louisiana Purchase and Brockway land was first owner after US government.
