Seeking information on Andrew Brown who married Catharine Corey in Lee County, Ft. Madison, Iowa on Feb 18,1874. Catharine Mahala Corey Brown had one child, Lydia Corey born July 3, 1974. She may or may not have been Andrew Brown's child. She was raised by her grandfather, Reynolds Corey and his second wife, Mary. I do not know what happened to Catherine and Andrew other than by the time Lydia was 15 her grandfather and mother were both dead and she inherited a part of her grandfather's estate which included a small parcel of land along the Skunk River near South Augusta, Iowa. Andrew Brown appears to have gone to school in Augusta, Iowa with Catherine and Reynolds Corey bought his land from a William and Lucy Brown and the transaction was recorded in Ft. Madison. I feel there is some connection but have never been able to decipher it. Furthermore, family legend has it that Lydia's father was Indian, and the appearance of her children would bear that out. Any suggestions welcome as Brown is nearly an impossible name to trace. Thanks
