Hi Margie:
That's interesting that you found another marriage for Harriet!? I was not aware of another in Iowa. She was married to her brother-in-law in a posthumous marriage in Salt Lake City. (never lived with him) This was a marriage that took place after her death, to her brother-in-law, George Morris in a Mormon sealing rite.
You see, Harriet was the sister of George's wife Hannah, whom he married in Nauvoo 1843. She wanted a polygamous marriage in 1846-47 when the Mormons were leaving Illinois and Iowa. Her sister and brothers who were dissident members of the church, came and removed her from the location where George Morris was living on the prairie. They were anti-polygamists.
Shortly after that time, she supposedly married Seth Palmer and lived in Montrose.
So there was another marriage for her in Iowa before or after Seth? Wow. Could you fill me in?
You may contact me privately at goldsage@aol.comThanks for your reponse.
