Hi Connie -
I found an obituary for Christian Hilpert and his wife Caroline Weber Hilpert in the Fairfield Tribune newspaper. Here's the transcript:
-----
Born, Lived and Died Together.
Keokuk, Ia., Aug. 19. ― Joined in life for nearly forty years, born in the same foreign land, less than seven hours separated them in death. Christian Hilpert was an old settler of Keokuk, a native of Germany, coming to Keokuk over forty years ago and here married Miss Caroline Webber in 1861. He died at St. Joseph’s hospital, where he had been only a few days, of Bright’s disease, from which he had suffered a year. His wife was seventy-one years old, and in bad health for several years and died at the home shortly after 4 o’clock Sunday morning, and so they were soon joined in another world.
The double funeral of this aged and honored couple will be held Tuesday afternoon from the German Evangelical church.
