I am seeking information regarding the Berg/Burg family. There were four siblings who immigrated to the USA from Karlskoga, Örebro län, Sweden around 1870.
Charles Burg (Karl Erik Petersson Björk born Sept 30, 1849 at Karlskoga) immigrated in 1870 and apparently married Sophea in Iowa. They had a daughter Anna Carolina born August 13, 1874 at Keokuk. Her obituary indicates that the family moved to Sharon Springs, Kansas while she was still very young. There were eight other children but I'm not sure where they were born. Charles and Sophea died in Kingsbury County, South Dakota.
A brother Gus Burg (Anders Gustaf Petersson in Sweden) was living at Centerville, Iowa in 1912 at the time of brother Peter Berg's death. I do not know if he also passed through Lee County as well. I believe that he did marry but I do not know whom or where.
According to South Lee County Marriages 1873-1890 records a sister Sophia Burke married F. A. Anderson March 20, 1876. The 1900 U. S Census indicates that she immigrated in 1872. They had twin daughters Minnie and Annie born in Lee County April 1, 1877 before moving to farm in Boone Co > Emmet Co. Iowa > Wilkin Co. Minn > Perkins Co. So Dak.
Peter Berg (born Per Björk on October 5, 1841 in Karlskoga, Sweden) did not marry and lived with his sister and brother-in-law, Sophia and F. A. Anderson in Boone County and Emmet County before moving to Kingsbury County South Dakota where he lived near brother Charles and his family.
Is there any evidence of the marriages of Charles Burg and Gus Burg in Lee County? Burke? Bjork?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
