COON/COONS. Seeking information on D. N. COON whose name appeared on an 1885 Lee County Civil War Veterans census list. This information appeared in a Fort Madison newspaper dated June, 1885. The information stated he had served as a surgeon in Co. E, 5th New York Infantry (Duryea's Zouaves) and was living in West Point, Lee Co., Iowa at that time (1885). The 5th New York roster indicates a David Coon(s) died in 1865 in NC; am wondering if the two might have a family connection. Would appreciate hearing from anyone with information either about Coon or to direct me to a source which might.
