Hughes and Elwell

I am looking for any information on a James Hughes that married a Sarah Ellwel in Lee County Iowa on July 5, 1857. Supposedly James Hughes was murdered by 1860 because Sarah Elwell in the 1860 census was living with her father. James Hughes father was Jesse Hughes. Supposedly James Hughes was a doctor. This is all from information that was handed down. All information will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Jim
