Viele is in Jefferson Township, Lee County, IA.

I checked the listing for your two surnames in: History of Lee County ,Iowa
Western Historical Company, Chicago, 1879
Jefferson Township, Page 792
Rudd, John, farmer, Section 18; P.O. Viele.
Rudd, Michael, farmer, Section 17; P.O. Viele.

I found no entry for the Copeland name. Do you know a timeframe for these families being in Lee County? I hope this info may be of some help to you.
