I am trying to find information on the parents of Louisa Jane "Ella" Brazeale who married Samuel Hopkins. I have that they were married April 1863 in Lee Co., Iowa but can't find proof of this. Sam was in the Civil War and in Mar. 1863 he was discharged in Keokuk from illness. I think that he was in the hospital and that is where he met Ella. Can anyone tell me if there is a marriage record for them or where to look? Did couples go across the line to get married at that time? I have found her last name spelt so many different ways that I can't seem to find the right one.
