Nunzio Columbus, 95, of Corpus Christi, Texas, formerly of the Wyaconda, Mo., area, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2004, at Trisun Nursing Home in Corpus Christi.

Born Aug. 8, 1909, in Long Island City, N.Y., he was the son of Thomas and Domenica Randazzo Columbus. On Oct. 31, 1948, he married Ellen Isabelle Rayburn in Kahoka, Mo. She died Nov. 18, 1971.

Mr. Columbus worked as a plumber in Babylon, Long Island, New York, retiring in 1962. He then moved to Wyaconda, where he farmed.

He enjoyed gardening and caring for his flower beds. He also loved fishing.

Survivors include seven daughters, Mary Chevalier of Monticello, N.Y., Ann Lewis of Florida, Lena C. Nemec of Corpus Christi, Catherine (Rippenkroeger) Lovette of Fort Madison, Isabelle Stevenson of Picayune, Miss., and Janet Mae Alva Columbus of Lake Charles, Ga.; and nine sons, James Columbus of Palm Coast, Fla., Joseph Columbus of Deer Park, Long Island, N.Y., Theodore Columbus of Florida, Thomas Columbus of Sebastian, Fla., Albert Columbus of Keokuk, John Columbus of Middle Island, N.Y., Peter Columbus of Margate, Fla., Joseph Columbus of Texas and Samuel Columbus of Naples, Ill.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by one daughter and one son.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Vigen Memorial Home in Kahoka, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

The graveside service for Mr. Columbus will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Liberty Cemetery in rural Williamstown, Mo.
