(Contributed)At an early hour Tuesday morning Feb. 1,1916 death claimed our beloved pioneer, Jacob Schwarzentruber. He passed away at 1:30 a.m. at the age of 75 years, 7 months and 11days. Deceased was born in Ohio the 21st day of June 1840. He came to Iowa, with his parents when he was 4 years old and has been a resident of Lee County ever since. He was united in marriage to Christina Schoene (her maiden name Christina Wahrer), June 2nd 1878. He was the father of eight children, one son Joseph preceded the father to the grave. Deceased is survived by his widow, two sons and five daughters, Charles Schwarzentruber at home, Daniel of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Emma Hirschler of California, Mrs. Mollie Marks of Keokuk, Mrs. Bertha Heaffner of Jefferson township, Mrs. Clara Woodson of Mt. Hamill and Miss Dora Schwarzentruber at home, and two step children, Wm. Schoene of Donnellson and Mrs. Louise Allen of Stronghurst, Ill. Also five brothers, two sisters and eight grandchildren, besides hosts of friends.
Funeral services were held from the Baptist church Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. Kreiss of Donnellson officiating.
Inturment in the Charleston Cemetery.
The pall bearers were George Renz, Jacob Wahrer and his four brothers, John Schwarzentruber of Neb. and Daniel, Chris and Peter of Illinois.
