JUNE 29, 1936 - APRIL 28, 1973

FORMER KEOKUK [IA] MAN DROWNS IN FLORIDA

Jerry J. Samuels, 36, former Keokuk resident, and son of Mrs. Bertha Dietrich, 417 Des Moines Street, drowned at Boynton Beach, FL, Saturday, April 28.
Mr. Samuels was a member of the Outdoor Amusement Business Association and the Loyal Order of the Moose.
The son of W.C. Samuels and Bertha Samuels, he was born in Keokuk, June 29, 1936. He married Amanda Schuman of Rock Falls, IL, June 11, 1967. She survives.
Mr. Samuels is also survived by his mother, Mrs. Bertha Dietrich, Keokuk; one son, Derek Lee; one daughter, Dawnita; a step-son, Scott; two sons by a previous marriage, Mark Anthony and William Barton, both of Keokuk; two sisters, Mrs. Stanley [Donnalee] Sherrill, West Bend, IA; Mrs. Mike [Mary Margaret] Robertson, Keokuk; one step-brother, Daniel Dietrich, Keokuk; one step-sister, Mrs. Duane [Linda] Lewis, Phoenix, AZ; several neices, nephews, aunts, uncles, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his father and two sons.
Funeral arrangements are pending at the Greaves Mortuary.

NOTE: A funeral service for Jerry J. Samuels was held on May 7, 1973, in Rock Falls, IL. The body was then shipped to the Greaves Mortuary. Graveside services were held at the Keokuk National Cemetery on May 8, 1973. The Rev. George McDaniel officiated. Burial was in the National Cemetery.
