Leonard A. Merschman, lifetime St. Paul resident and former businessman, died at 10:10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, at Van Buren Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. He was 81 years old.
Born Aug. 1, 1905, at Fort Madison, he was the son of George and Anna Stuekerjuergen Merschman. He married Mary Pietzmeier on April 19, 1932, at St. James Catholic Church, St. Paul. He was a member of the church.
Surviving are his wife, Anna, St. Paul; four sons, Delbert and Gary, both of West Point, Mark and Gene, Both of St. Paul; a daughter, Mrs. Marilyn (Roger) Boeding, Wever; 16 grandchildren; and a brother, John, West Point.
A rosary will be read at 7:30 tonight at Link Funeral Home, West Point.
Services for Mr. Merschman will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. James Church with the Rev. Robert Striegel officiating.
Memorials have been established for Marquette and Aquinas high schools.
