WILLIAM PEARL JEFFERS
William Pearl Jeffers, 85, of Argyle, died Sunday, March 8, at 7:20 p.m. in Keokuk area West Hospital.
He was born Sept. 30, 1895 at Vincennes, the son of Abraham and Mary Sprouse Jeffers.
He married Irene Wilsey on Dec. 15, 1915 at Keosauqua and she survives.
A retired farmer, he lived for 60 years on the same farm. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist church at Keokuk.
In addition to his widow he is also survived by one son, Pearl J. Jeffers of Argyle, Mrs. Mary Case of Westminster, Calif., Mrs. Forrest (Neva) Springer of St. Francisville, Mo. and Mrs. Harold Joann Evans of Keokuk; one brother, Carl Jeffers of Argyle; two sisters, Bonnie Palmer of Donnellson, Ada Lewis of Lafayette, Ind.; 25 grandchildren and 50 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son and one daughter.
The funeral was held Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the Hofbauer Funeral Home at Donnellson with the Rev. George Logan officiating. Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery, Vincennes. A memorial was established for the Calvary Baptist Church.
