Gertrude Brewer
Gertrude Brewer, 89, of the West Point Care Center, died at 8:13 a.m. Sunday, June 22, at the care center.
Born Feb. 9, 1897, in Gorin, Mo., she was the daughter of William and Elizabeth Beall Long. She first married Guy Stevens April 14, 1920, in Gorin, Mo.; he died March 16, 1951. She later married Clarence "Jack" Brewer Oct. 2, 1955, in fort Madison; he died Dec. 12, 1972.
She was a member of the First Christian Church, Fort Madison.
Surviving are one son, William "Bill" Stevens, Fort Madison; three daughters, Mrs. Dorothy (Virden) Oge and Mrs. Beverly (Floyd) Luton, both of Fort Madison, and Mrs. Donna (Melvin) Blind, Weaver; 14 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
The family will meet with friends 7-8 p.m. tonight at the King-Lynk Funeral Home, Ft. Madison.
Services for Mrs. Brewer were Tuesday at the King-Lynk Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Kamilos officiating. Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for the First Christian Church.
