A victim of an accidental wound from a gunshot, Garnet Martin, aged 19 years, son of Mrs. Leola Martin, a widow, is dead at his home in Fort Madison. Mystery surrounds the death, as the young man was alone in his bedroom when the awful accident occurred. A load from a double-barreled shotgun entered the stomach of the young man, tearing a large hole in his body. Death was almost instantaneous. The location of the wound and the position of the body when found indicate the death as accidental and discourages the first reports of suicide.
