Mrs. Caroline Dufek of 1412 Bank street died at her home at 1:30 o'clock this morning from grippe combined with complications resulting from old age. Although she had been in poor health for some time, she was only taken down ill about two weeks ago and had been in a serious condition but four days.

Mrs. Dufek was born in Bohemia, Austria on June 14, 1844, being seventy-two years old. She grew to womanhood in the old country and was married there in 1868 to John Dufek. Mr. and Mrs. Dufek left Europe for the United States on July 4, 1876. After arriving in this country they went to Iowa City, Iowa, where they resided for four years.

They came to Keokuk, April 7, 1880 and both spent the remainder of their lives here. Mr. Dufek died five years ago. The following children survive: Mrs. Jennie Hollenback, Helena, Montana; Mrs. Edward Heine, Keokuk; Mrs. Jugo Kelly, Seattle, Wash.; Frank Dufek, Keokuk and James Dufek.

The decedent was reared in the Catholic faith and was a woman of many excellent qualities and fine graces. She possessed a host of friends in Keokuk and all will sympathize with the family in the loss of this kind and loving mother and good friend.

The body bearers at the funeral of Mrs. Caroline Dufek, which was held this afternoon at 1:30 o'clock, were Frank Dufek, Ed. Heine, Henry Seeman, Henry Weigner, Albert Glewe and William A. Weber.
