Died at the home of his son-in-law A.L.Rice at 5 p.m. on last Monday morning (March 26, 1877) - John Davis of Washington Twp., Lee, Co., Ia. age 86 yrs., 4 mos. He came to Iowa from Ohio in 1838 to Washington Twp. He served in the War of 1812 and quartered in Erie, Pennsylvania for some time. He drew a pension for his service (His son-in-law's obit is under Robert Herring).
