Exie Gracetta Bauswell (1943-2019)

Exie Gracetta Bauswell, 76, of Bettendorf passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to Kings Harvest Ministries, or the Scott County Humane Society.

Exie was born on May 1, 1943 in Keokuk, Iowa, the daughter of John “Max” and Florence (Eshelman) Seitz. On December 28, 1963 she was united in marriage to Jim Bauswell. She graduated from the University of Iowa in 1965 with a Bachelors of Arts in History with a Minor in Art, and was teacher for many years in the Davenport school district, and had an easy rapport with her students. She loved to read, paint, draw, and was a lover of people, dogs, gardening, antiquing, and would do anything for anyone. When Exie was around, she made family time happier, memories warmer, and everyday a little bit more special.

Those left to honor her memory are her husband of fifty-five years, Jim; her sons, Michael (Barbara) Bauswell of Davenport, John (Stephanie) Bauswell of Bettendorf, Eric (Angie) Bauswell of Eldridge, and her daughter; Erin Bauswell of Bettendorf, and five grandchildren.

Her parents preceded her in death.
