Following a stroke of paralysis Jacob Renwald passed away Saturday Morning at 7:00 o'clock at the family residence, 1300 Main street. Mr. Renwald, who was quite advanced in years had been ailing for some time, and when taken with a stroke of paralysis but a short time ago he was unable to recover. He had not been in good health during the past summer although his illness dates back to several years ago when he was first stricken with paralysis. He was well known in Keokuk and had many friend among the citizens.

In Business a Long Time.

Jacob Renwald had been in business in Keokuk for more than half a century, being identified with a hardware store at No. 1300 Main street. During these many years he had been quite active and until the last few years did much of the work connected with the business.

Jacob Renwald was born in Germany July 21, 1831, and came to this country in the year 1853. Two years later he moved to Keokuk and had made this city his home during the greater part of that time. His marriage occurred in 1863.

Mr. Renwald was a devout member of St. Mary's Catholic church of this city.

The surviving relatives are the following children: Theodore and Edward of Minot, South Dakota; Jonh of Farmington; Jacob, Jr., of Keokuk; Elizabeth, a Sister of Mercy at Council Bluffs; Sisters Euphrsia, Agnetta, and Casilda of the Sanfranciscan order at Dubuque; and Sister Xavier of the Sanfransicsan Hospital Sisters at Peoria, Ill. There are also a number of grandchildren.

Relatives have the sympathy of many in their great loss.

Funeral services for the late Jacob Renwald were conducted at St. Mary's Catholic church this morning. Rev. Father Giglinger celebrated requiem high mass in the presence of relatives and friends of the deceased. The pallbearers assisting were the following gentlemen: Wm. Reimbold, M. J. Burke, John Cosgrove, Peter Zimmer - John Applebaum and Charles Stahl.
