Keokuk friends of John L. Harmon, formerly a well known resident of this city, will learn with regret of his death in Burlington yesterday morning. His demise occured at the Burlington Hospital at 5:30 a. m. Mr. Harmon had been ill for the last five months with cancer of the bowels. The body is to be brought to Keokuk for burial and will arrive here this evening. It will be taken to the funeral parlors of I. S. Ackley and the funeral is to be held from there tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. The services will be in charge of the Odd Fellows lodge, of which the decedent was a member.Mr. Harmon was born in Liverpool, Ill., on December 7, 1855. He came to Keokuk at an early date and spent many years of his life here. He was employed at the Irwin-Phillips Co., for some time and later was in the lumber business. He moved to Burlington fifteen years ago and had made his home there since.
The decedent is survived by the widow and three children, William Harmon of Galesburg, Mrs. Alice Cross of Monmouth and Jesse Harmon of Burlington; also his father, who resides in Keokuk, and the following brothers and sisters: LeRoy Harmon, Flint, Mich.; W. B. Harmon, Burlington; Mrs. Mary E. Leighton, Mrs. Katherine Hamilton, Mrs. Alice Gearhardt and Mrs. Addie Bunch, Keokuk; Mrs. Emma Jones and Mrs. Anna Hamilton, St. Louis, and Mrs. Ollie Whitehead of Liverpool, Ill.

June 10, 1916The funeral of John L. Harmon, who died in Burlington Thursday morning, was held from the funeral parlors of I. S. Ackley at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon. The services were in charge of the Odd Fellows.
