Edward J. Mansheim Jr, 93, of Fort Madison, passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at 5:20 a.m. at Sunnybrook Assisted Living. He was born on Dec. 3, 1919 in Fort Madison, to Edward and Adalaide Bendlage Mansheim. On July 8, 1944 he married Iris Copper in Burton Latimer, England. Edward worked production at DuPont, retiring after 30 years of service. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church and the Fort Madison Senior Citizens. Edward also served in the US Air Force during WWII. He enjoyed gardening, John Deere equipment, making clocks and was especially fond of his grandsons.
Survivors include his wife, Iris Mansheim of Fort Madison; one daughter, Linda Molzhon of Fort Madison; one son, Roy E. Mansheim of Fort Madison; two sisters, Evelyn Westfall of Fort Madison and Alice Snyder of Burlington; two grandchildren, Sean Molzhon of Fort Madison and Steve Molzhon of Patterson, Mo.; two great grandchildren, Brady and Madison Molzhon; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother.The family will meet with friends from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 12, at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory. A rosary will be recited at 3 PM at the funeral home. The funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 13, at Sacred Heart Church with the Rev. Mark P. Spring officiating. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery with full military rites performed by the Fort Madison Veterans Honor Guard.
A memorial has been established for ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) or Sacred Heart Church
