Asthma is Given as the Cause of Her Death at the Family Residence.
No. 913 Carroll Street.
____

Mrs. Henry Bender died at the family residence, 913 Carroll street, at 11:40 o'clock Saturday night, after a long period of bad health for about two years, suffering from asthma.

Mrs. Bender's name before marriage was Miss Minnie Higbee, and she was born in Clark county, Missouri, February 2, 1864. On December 8, 1881, she was married to Henry Bender. They had been living in Keokuk about three and a half years, and for two years of that time she had suffered considerably from asthma, which is given as the cause of her death. She was a consistent member of St. Peter's Catholic church and died in that faith. The end came quietly and peacefully and she passed away as gently as a little child going to sleep.

Mrs. Bender had many warm friends and appreciative neighbors and her kindly presence will be sadly missed in the home, the church and social circles.

She is survived by her husband and five children living. One preceded her in death. The surviving children are one son and four daughters, Thomas Bender, Mrs. Clara Johnson, of Straw, Montana; Mrs. Bertha Clinard, of Alexandria, Mo.; Mrs. Virgie Osborn, of Keokuk, and Cleto, the youngest child , at home; also by eight grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Fannie Alexander, of Michigan; Mrs. Susie Scott of Des Moines, Iowa; Caleb Higbee of Carthage, Ill., and Jean Higbee of Gregory, Mo.

Arrangements for the funeral had not been completed.
