Margaret L. (Leveling) Hassman was born at Fort Madison, IA, November 1, 1851 and passed away at Lindsay, NE August 18, 1922, at the age of 71 years 9 months and 17 days. In 1875 she was married to Bernard Hassman in St. Paul Catholic Church in Lee Co.(Taken from Obit in Humphrey Democrat, Platte Co. NE.) To this union four boys & five girls were born. According to the 1900 Census Margaret was born in IA. Their children Mary Elizabeth was born in Ottumwa (Wapello Co) (my Grandmother) according to her baptismal certificate by a Rev.John Krechel 10/Sept. 1876. 1990 census,(Madison Co. NE) Elizabeth 1876 in IA were Edward 1881, Anna 1883, William 1885. They lived in Council Bluffs IA because in Elizabeth's Obituary, she attended a Catholic school there. The rest of the children were born in NE. They were Maria 1887, Bernard 1889, Margaret 1891, Mathias 1895. They later moved to Humphrey, NE.
