____Said to Have Plastered the First House in Keokuk - Survived by Widow and Two
Sons.
____David A. Wilkins, 80 years old, passed away at his home, 1919 William street at 3:15 o'clock this morning after a long illness. The decedent had been in poor health for several years and death was the result of the infirmities of old age. Mr. Wilkins had been a resident of Keokuk since the year 1857 and was well known throughout the city. In former years he was a plasterer and mason, it is said that he plastered the first house in Keokuk.
The decedent was a veteran of the civil war, having served three years in the conflict in Company A Nineteenth Iowa volunteer infantry. He enlisted in 1862, serving the balance of the war.
Mr. Wilkins was born on Nov. 29, 1835 near Pittsburg, Pa. He moved to this city at an early date and was one of the city's oldest residents. He was married twice. His second wife, Mrs. Martha Wilkins, survives. They were married in Keokuk thirty-three years ago last December.
Besides his wife, there are two sons, Paul Wilkins, Danube, Calif., and Dr. Charles O. Wilkins, Hamill, South Dakota; also two brothers, Alfred Wilkins, of Keokuk and Albert Wilkins of Kirksville and a sister, Mrs. Carrie Pallard, Maxwell, California.

WILKINS - The funeral of the late David A. Wilkins will be held from the Second Presbyterian church, Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Rev. J. C. Hughes officiating. Belknap Post, G. a. R., will have charge of the services. All G. A. R. comrades invited.
