____Carl E. Young of 1726 Fulton street was found dead in the attic of his home Sunday morning about 9 o'clock by his wife. Mr. Young had hanged himself to the rafters with a piece of rope. No reason can be assigned by the family for the dead, unless it was that he was suffering from melanchlia and was temporarily unbalanced. Life had been extinct for almost two hours, Dr. Blinn Dorsey who was called, said after examination. Acting Coroner James S. Burrows was called, but it was decided that an inquest would not be necessary.
No notes were left by the unfortunate man, and there was nothing to give any inkling as to why he had taken his own life. He had been worrying a little lately over his work, but had expected to go to work Monday morning at Graham hospital. Friday he turned his ankle. It was not a serious injury, according to the doctors, and he was able to be on his feet. Members of the family saw him alive for the last time early Sunday morning.
Mr. Young was born in Chicago, Ill., and was forty-six years old. He had lived in Keokuk for the last twenty-three years. He was a wood worker, having been employed in the Mills-Ellsworth plant here for a number of years, and had done carpenter work, too. He was married twenty years ago to Emma Lindstrand, who survives him together with one son, Russell Young. There are two sisters, Mrs. John Lindstrand of Chicago and Mrs. Anna Byloff of Loomis, Nebr., and Mr. Young's aged mother, Mrs. Emma Young, who lives near Loomis. Mr. Young was a member of the Swedish Aid society.
