WEDNESDAY, MARCH 8, 1899

DIED. - Barbara Furrer, (her maiden name being Graeszar, close related to our late murdered Henry Graeszar) widow of John Furrer, Sr., died at the home of her daughter Elisabeth, Mrs. Peter Sheffler, on the 2nd inst., in Franklin township. She was born at Albisheim, Bavaria, October 9, 1809, emigrated to the United States of America in 1846, was united in marriage to John Furrer in May, 1847. Miss Ida Sheffler and her mother survive her. She was a kind stepmother to the Furrer family as well, so to say, as to the Sheffler family, her own daughter and grandchild as well, and to Mr. Sheffler. All were very kind to her. She was peacefully laid to rest March 4 in the Fort Madison cemetery, beside her late husband, both of whom were always guided by our Evangelical ministers, of which church they were members in good standing. She passed away at the ripe age of 89 years, 4 months and 21 days. Pastor Rev. H. Wagner officiating.
