Mrs Nannie Dawson

Mrs Nannie Dawson, daughter of the late Joseph and Clara Powell passed away at her home in Fremont, Nebraska, Thursday, June 9 at about noon, at the age of 82 years, 2 months and 9 days, after a lingering illness of three months.
She was born at La Crew, Iowa, July 27, 1867, and spent all of her life in Lee County with the exception of the past six years when she lived in Fremont, Nebr. She was united in marriage to Commodore Dawson April 19, 1893, who passed away October 13, 1948.
She is survived by two sons, Lloyd D. of Donnellson and Lee of Shelton, Wash; one daughter, Mrs Delta Paschal of Fremont, Nebr; three sisters, Mrs Emma Hill and Mrs Lula Young of Mt Pleasant and Mrs Alda Paschal of Colorado Springs, Colo; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, 1 son, Glenn, two children in infancy, and one brother, Elmer Powell.
The body was shipped to Iowa and funeral services were held in the Clay Grove Methodist church Sunday at 3:00 PM conducted by the Rev Alton H Zischke. Mrs Forrest Overton sang “Some Golden Daybreak” and “Waiting For Me”. She was accompanied by Mrs Frank Overton. The body was laid to rest in the Clay Grove Cemetery. The following were pallbearers: Wilmer Overton, Clifford Overton, Robert Myers, Forrest Overton, Tilford Overton and Arthur Overton.
Relatives from a distance attending the services were: Mr. and Mrs Arthur Paschal and Richard of Fremont, Nebr; Mrs Lula Young and Mrs Emma Hill, Mt Pleasant; Mr. and Mrs Vernon Dawson, Mrs Glen Dawson, Jr, Chicago; Mrs Don Gulke, Milwaukee, Wis.; Sherman Dawson, Mr. and Mrs H. E. Druse and family, Revere, Mo.

This obituary was obtained from the Donnellson, Iowa library. The publishing paper is unknown but believed to be a local Lee county paper. The publishing date was about 16 June 1949.
