16 January 2016Gerald H. "Jerry" Houston, 62 years, of Fort Madison and formerly of Denmark, Iowa, died 8:35 a.m. January 12, 2016 at the Great River Hospice House, West Burlington, Iowa. He was born February 20, 1953 in Fort Madison, Iowa, a son of Gerald and Cecelia (Buechel) Houston. On November 17, 1973, he married Carol Knowles in Fort Madison, Iowa.
Jerry was a 1971 graduate of Fort Madison High School, and a graduate of Southeastern Community College specializing in tool and die making. He was proud to have worked for the Boilermaker Local #83, Kansas City, Missouri for 40 years, and was a Millwright with Local #2158, Bettendorf, Iowa. He was farmer for most of his life, and he was known to have been able to fix most anything. He was of the Catholic faith. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Houston, of Fort Madison, Iowa; his mother, Cecelia Houston, of West Point, Iowa; two sons, Keith Houston, of Janesville, Wisconsin and Kurt (wife Lynn) Houston, of Denmark, Iowa; two brothers, Jeff (wife Paula) Houston and Rex (wife Jennifer) Houston, both of Fort Madison, Iowa; two sisters, Carol (husband Bob) Peitz, of Houghton, Iowa; Linda (husband Larry) Menke, of West Point, Iowa; six-grandchildren, Lydia and Madeleine Houston; Hunter, Jaida, Bella, and Kaiden Houston; four step-grandchildren: John Roden; Jacob, Haley, and Hannah Brogden. He is preceded in death by his father.
