Mr.. Thomas Currier and Miss Amelia Epps while children, came to N.Y. from
New Hampshire. In early life Miss Epps became Mrs. Currier and a home was
secured in Iowa. Before moving to Denmark they became deeply interested in
the Baptist church of that place, which was in a very low condition. They
first gave $1,000, towards a new house of worship and since have spared
neither labor nor money to make the work a success and the following clipped
from the Weekly Plaindealer of Fort Madison shows in what esteem she was held:

"Tuesday morning, the 9th.-Mrs. Currier died last night at half past 10
o'clock. The funeral will be held Wednesday at eleven o'clock a.m. She leaves
a husband and six children, the youngest only about three years old, to mourn
their loss. The eldest son Kinny died a year ago last winter. Mrs. Currier
was one of those quiet, sweet women whose loss is deeply felt in a community,
and in the home circle leaves a void too deep for words to describe. She was
one of the most active members in the Baptist church, and there, too, will her
place be hard to fill. The hearts of all our people go out in sympathy for
the bereaved family, and trust that they may find comfort in the thought that
she is not lost to them, but only waiting until she can welcome them to the
home circle above."
