Dallas Lee Harness, 87, of Ft. Madison, IA, passed away at 9:10 AM on Monday, August 31, 2015 at the Clark County Nursing Home in Kahoka, MO.

He was born on August 26, 1928, in Clark County, MO, to Harold Friend and Alta Vivian Peterie Harness. Dallas married Patty Kerr in March of 1947 and they later divorced. He then married Helen Strunk Kokjohn on March 5, 1976, in Ft. Madison and she passed away on December 8, 2014. Dallas was a heavy equipment operator for Lee County Highway Department, retiring in 1994. He was a member of the First Christian Church where he served as a deacon. Dallas enjoyed going on country drives and spending time with family and friends. He and Helen enjoyed traveling in their younger years.

Survivors include a daughter, Ronda (Mike) York of Kahoka, MO; two sons, Randy (Joyce) Harness of Columbia, TN, and Kent (Vickie) Harness of Mt. Sterling, IA; eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and one sister.

Friends may call after 3 PM on Wednesday, September 2, 2015, at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory where the family will meet with friends from 5-7 PM. The funeral Service will be at 10 AM on Thursday, September 3, 2015, at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. John Simpson officiating. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery.
