OLD RESIDENT OF LEE DIES THIS MORNING

This morning at 8 o’clock occurred the death of David W. Lyens* at the family home this side of Galland, north of this city. Death resulted from heart trouble with which dreaded ailment he had been a patient sufferer since last March.

He had been a resident of Iowa ever since he was twelve years of age and a resident of Lee county for about forty years. He was born in Mercer county, Kentucky, March 20, 1826, and was united in the holy bonds of matrimony with Miss Mahettabelle Bain, with whom he lived a useful and happy life until about eleven months ago when she entered into eternal and peaceful rest. This union was blessed by six children, four girls and two boys. Those left to grieve over this sad loss are one son, Geo. W. Lyens; daughters, Mrs. John DeRosear, Mrs. L. Hemmingway, and Mrs. Jesse L. Johns, all of whom are residents of Galland. Two step children also survive him, Mrs. Wm. Fowler and Warren Bain of Montrose.

Mr. Lyens’ long residence in this section of the county, his upright and honest dealings with his fellow men and his good character, have won for him a countless number of friends and acquaintances who will be shocked at the news of his death. The funeral will take place from his late residence Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock.
