George Mott is summoned last evening.
Plastering Contractor and Former Policeman dies at his home 412? North Twelfth Street after long illness.
George A. Mott well known plastering contractor and a former member of the police department, died at his home 412 North Twelfth street at 7:20 o'clock last night after an illness of two weeks.
Born in Canton Mo. Mr. Mott came to Keokuk in early manhood and spent the most of his life here where he earned and retained the esteem of all with whom he came into contact.
The son of C. H. and Caroline Mott he was born on October 14, 1889 and some 40 years ago married Cornelia Wilson who preceded him in death six years ago December 16.
He was a very active member of the Bethel A. M. E. church serving as class leader for 32 years and on the board of stewards for many terms.
For about one year he served on the police department.
Surviving him are a brother Charles Mott of Kansas City Mo and the following neices and nephews: Mrs. Lucille Bryant of Chicago Ill, Mrs. Ora Bates and Mrs. Pearl Johnson of Keokuk, Carroll Johnson of Louisianna, MO and Emery McGruder of Omaha Nebr. There is also a sister in law, Mrs. Rosie Day of Shelbyville MO.
The body will remain at the Greaves and Hanerhoff parlors. The funeral arrangements will be announced later.
