Don Cruikshank Dies Sunday in Iowa City
Donald W. Cruikshank, 25, of Montrose, who was critically injured in an automobile accident south of Montrose last Tuesday night, died at 9:35 a.m. Sunday in the Veterans hospital at Iowa City.
The son of Theodore C and Elaine Rokey Cruikshank, he was born June 14, 1932 at Donnellson. He lived most of his life in Montrose where he graduated from the Montrose high school in 1950.
He married Zela Phipps at the First Congregational church here on July 27, 1952. She survives.
He was agent for the Monarch Life Insurance Company.
He entered the armed forces September 12, 1953 and was discharged December 2, 1956.
He was a member of the Montrose Presbyterian church, Joppa Lodge No. 136, A. F. & A. M. and Martha Chapter No 5 Order of Eastern Star, all of Montrose.
Surviving besides his wife and parents Mr. and Mrs. Theodore C Curikshank of Sarasota, Fla and formerly of Montrose, are a sister, Janet S. Cruikshank of Montrose, a brother, James E. Cruikshank of Fort Madison, a grandfather Fred A . Rokey of Montrose, a niece, Nancy Lynn Cruikshank of Fort Madison and a nephew Richard Lee Parks of California as well as other relatives.
He was preceded in death by a son David Wayne, who died Dec 14, 1954.
Funeral services were held at 1 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at Schmidt Memorial Home. Masonic services were conducted and burial was in the Donnell cemetery at Donnellson.
