Fred Rokey

Fred August Rokey, 86, of Montrose, died in the home of his daughter Mrs. T. C. Cruikshank Saturday at 4:30 p.m. He had been in failing health for some time, but his death was very sudden.
The son of the late Christian and Julia Ann Schweer Rokey, he was born January 24, 1875 in Lee county and was a lifelong resident of this vicinity. He was a retired farmer.
He was a member of the Presbyterian church at Montrose and a 50 year member of the IOOF Lodge at Keokuk.
In January 1901 he was married to Lulu Mae Humphrey, who preceded him in death.
Surviving are one son Earl Rokey of Donnellson, one daughter Mrs. T. C. Cruickshank of Montrose, one brother William of Keokuk, one sister, Mrs. Minnie Welsch of Keokuk, four grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, one sister, one grandson, and one great grandson.
Funeral services were held in Millers' Home for Funerals on Tuesday at 2:00 p.mom with Rev. J. Sherrill Gohde offication.
Mrs. Robert Yoder sand "Ivory Palaces" and "It is Well With My Soul" accompanied by Mrs. Delmar Hirschler.
Interment was in the Donnell Cemetery, the following serving as beareers, Wm Auwaerter Jr, George Halm, Cecil Perty, Howard Hummel, Ralph Curtis, Ross Simpson
