Popular young Keokuk woman dies with baby. (3-17-1944)
Mrs. Betty Patterson Hochmuth popular registered nurse and a resident of this city all her life until her marriage early in 1943 died in Graham hospital here at 9:35pm Thrusday a few hours after the delivery of a stillborn son. She had been a
patient at the hospital for slighty more than a week.
A daughter of Harry M and Ruby Ireland Patterson, Mrs. Hochmuth was born in Keokuk on September 1, 1917 and was graduated from Keokuk Senior High School in 1935. After the prescribed course of training, she was graduated from Graham
Hospital of Nursing in 1941 and in her profession she gained the admiration of everyone with whom she came in contact because of her high efficiency, genuine kindness and pleasant personality.
She was married at Louisiana Missouri on Jan 29, 1943 to Frank Hochmuth, a field engineer, and they have traveled considerably in connection with his work.
Mrs. Hochmuth was a member of the Trinity Methodist Church, the order of the Eastern Star and Graham Hospital Alumnae.
Surviving her are her husband, her mother, Mrs. Ruby Patterson of Keokuk, two brothers, Robert W. Patterson of Denver Colorado and Pvt Don Patterson, who is serving with the U.S. Army overseas. Her father preceded her in death in April 1938.
The body will remain at Schmidt Memorial home until Sunday afternoon when funeral services will be held for both mother and baby from the Trinity Methodist Church at 2:30pm.
