H. M. Patterson dies yesterday ill four years
Death of Well known Keokuk Resident Occurs Last Night in Masonic Sanitarium in Bettendorf, Funeral Wednesday.
Funeral services will be held in the Trinity M. E. church tomorrow afternoon at 4 o-clock for the late Harry M Patterson widely known Keokuk resident whose death occurred at 8:30 o'clock last night in the Masonic sanitarium at Bettendorf.
Masonic services willb e conducted at the church and Damascus Commandery, Knights Templar, of wich Mr. Patterson was a member for many years, will provide an escort.
Long Illness: Mr. Patterson's death followed a prolonged illness of four years through which he fought for health with remarkable courage and cheerfulness. His passing will be deeply mourned by many friends.
The son of J. W. and Emma Patterson he was born in Canton Ill on January 16, 1886 and came to Keokuk with his parents when he was one year old.
For twenty five years he was employed as a travelling salesman for the Watson Steel Company, Bradley, Ill bur for the last twelve years he has engaged in the insurance business here. A t one time he also operated the Home Cafe at Fourth and Main streets.
Active in Masonry: In addition to occupying a prominent porition in the business life of the community, he was also very active in fraternal circles, especially in Masonry with memberships in the Knights Templar and the Shrine. He was formerly affilliated iwth the Elks, Eagles and Woodman lodges as well.
Mr. Patterson enjoyed an unusually wide acquaintance through the community and his cheerful good nature will be greatly missed by his many friends.
On August 26, 1912 he was united in marriage with Ruby Ireland of Fairfield who survives him together with three children.
Leaves three children: He was a member of the Trinity M E Church. Surviving besides the wife are the three children, Robert W, Bett A and Harry Donald Patterson all at home, two brothers, W. R and J. D. Patterson of Duluth Minn, and one sister Mrs. G. V. Wickland of Davenport. The body will remain at the Pearson and Schmidt Funeral Home until time for the services.
