Lee County Democrat, August 5, 1843:
ALFRED RICH, ESQ.-
Alfred Rich, Esq., of Iowa Territory, died on the 11th inst., at the residence of his mother in Kenton county, Kentucky.
We clip the foregoing from the "St. Louis New Era" of the 31st ult.:
Mr. Rich, formerly resided in this place and was widely and favorably known in the territory. He was twice the candidate of the Whig party for delegate to Congress. As a lawyer he was most respectable, and no man had warmer personal friends. Our citizens will regret to hear of his death, although such an event has long been expected. Several years before his departure from this place he was afflicted with a pulmonary affection, and it was with the vain hope of obtaining relief in a warmer and milder climate that he left this county, for the South. We learn that despairing of recovery from the fell disease which has fastened upon him, he returned to die, as he did, at the residence of his mother.
