Mrs. David Houghton, an old resident of Montrose and widow of the late David Houghton, Civil war veteran, died at the St. Joseph's hospital Monday afternoon.

Mary Ann Ray was born at Richmond, Ohio, on January 18, 1849, and was the only child of Joseph and Jane Ray. She came to Montrose with here parents when a small child and made her home here until she came to live with Mrs. Bert Crosby of Keokuk.

She was united in marriage with David James Houghton on July 11, 1866, at Montrose.

There were no children born to this union. Her husband preceded her in death five years ago.

She leaves no relatives save by marriage.
