Charles H. (Ched) Beebe Jr., 61, a certified public accountant and bank official, died Friday at his home in Kensington after a long illness.

He was a senior partner in the firm of Bond, Beebe, Barton and Muckelbauer, which has offices in Washington, Gaithersburg and Westminster, Md.

Mr. Beebe also was a founder and director of the Chevy Chase Bank and Trust Co.

Born in Wever, Iowa, he came to this area as a youth and earned a degree in business administration in 1978 from the University of Maryland, where he played varsity baseball and participated in intramural boxing.

He continued his interest in the university and sports. As treasurer for 12 years and president in 1961 of the M Club, he actively assisted student athletes.

Mr, Beebe also coached baseball for more than 20 years in the Montgomery County Baseball Association and the Tri-County Men's League and more recently in the Bethesda Boys Club.

He was a member of the Bethesda Lions Club and a trustee of the Joseph Davies Foundation of Wisconsin, which grants scholarships to students throughout the country.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret, of the home; two sons, Lawrence W., of Olney, and John, of Manassas; two daughters, Joan Mullinix, of Okinawa, and Mary Jane Athey, of Rockville; his father, Charles H., of Wever; two sisters, Ellen Sweetland, of Kensington, and Anna Wright, of Topeka, Kan.; two brothers William B., of Bethesda, and Philip E., of Wever, and eight grandchildren.

The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to the Apheresis Center of the Washington regional blood program, American Red Cross.
